Please be aware that different operating systems need specific versions of apps to run correctly. I am running OS X on a Mac. There are Windows equivalents to many of these. I like using VersonTracker and am basing all of these links on that website (I like that it remembers the version number of my OS. There are many other sites also hosting freeware.

Preference Pane allows you to control all audio inputs and outputs by just cli9icking on an application. You can add apps that aren't listed.

Fast, compact internet search utility that resides in a very small window on your desktop.   It opens your default browser when you type in something to search.

Mouse Locator
Preference Pane that creates a green ring around the cursor if you don't use it for a specified amount of time.   This is especially useful on a dual-monitor system.
